1. Tell us your roots - where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and I am now living in Mexico City, Mexico.

2. Why hooping? How did the journey begin?

I started into the flow arts world by learning how to spin poi over 10 years ago. I attended an event and saw a girl fire hooping and was completely in awe. I was mesmerized and knew I had to learn. I made my own hoop (big ol' heavy hoop out of irrigation tubing) and learned some basic tricks. At this time, there wasn't facebook/Instagram/Tik Tok so I learned from the very few videos that were on YouTube and taught myself things. I then started playing with two hoops with the knowledge I had from poi spinning. Eventually, I learned how to juggle with balls/clubs. I realized I could juggle my hula hoops!!! From that moment I put almost all my focus to exploring concepts with three hoops and hoop juggling.

3. What has the hoop taught you about life?

Hooping has taught me so many things over the years. It has taught me patience. You have to be patient with yourself and take things one step at a time. It taught me to enjoy the little things. Nothing like being outside with your hoops and headphones, enjoying time connecting with yourself. I love the process and feeling of getting better at something. Hoops have shown me how rewarding that feeling is.

4. What's next? How is your hoop life evolving?

I have been working with hoops for over 10 years. My passion is teaching. When I started hooping, I didn't have access to many resources of learning material. I want to share my knowledge with others to get them inspired by hoops and juggling!

5. What aspect of the hoop community do you value the most and what do you hope to contribute to the future of hooping?

I value the hoop community so much. It's one of the most accepting and encouraging communities I have been a part of. I want to continue that vision by encouraging hoopers at all different skill levels to not only continue hooping, but to get out of their comfort zone and try something new! Everyone has a different reason for why they play with hoops and I respect each and every reason. I love the variety of styles in the hoop world today and want to continue to see people pushing the boundaries of what "hula hooping" is.
