Some people like to apply grip tape to their hoops because it helps the hoop stay on your body and be more successful in your hoop journey. Let's talk about the different types of grip tape and how to apply them. Hoopologie carries three main kinds of grip tape: 3M grip, gaffer tape, and low-profile grip tape. The same application technique is used for all of them.

Sit down comfortably in a chair and hold the hoop with the back end tucked under your arm to keep it in place, with one hand holding the hoop up vertically. Start at the connection and slowly lay the grip tape down along the center of the hoop toward your body, making sure the tape is relaxed and not taut, smoothing it down with your opposite thumb as it's applied to the inside of the hoop. If you apply grip tape too tight or with too much tension, it will peel up and fall off almost immediately.

Alternatives to grip tape include hoop wax or sanding. Both are relatively easy: rub the wax along the inside of the hoop with a little pressure and reapply as needed, or use high-grit sandpaper along the inside and/or outside of the hoop. It's personal preference.
