If you're making a performance-taped hoop, you may want to add a layer of protection tape to preserve your beautiful tape job and extend the life of your hoop. We recommend one-inch crystal-clear tape for 3/4-inch hoops and three-quarter-inch crystal-clear tape for 5/8-inch hoops.

It's very easy to apply, but the most important thing about clear taping is to make sure it lines up with the decorative tape. Starting at the connection, wind the tape around the hoop, trying to align with the decorative tape spiral. You don't need to overlap clear tape — it's just an outer coating, and overlapping it can create inconsistency in the feel of the hoop. Use the same finger-smoothing technique as you lay it down over the decorative tape, and adjust the spacing of the clear tape as you would decorative tape.
