How to Ship a Hula Hoop
Ship hoops so they arrive round, not wonky: coil down, tape at five points, and box them up.
Video transcript
If you're an aspiring hoop-shop entrepreneur, you'll need to figure out how to properly ship your hoops to your customers. There are many methods for packaging. The Hoopologie method involves partially coiling the hoop down to fit in a 20x20x2-inch pizza box. When we coil the hoop down, we tape it at five specific points to make sure it stays as round as possible during transit. If you don't tape the hoop effectively, your customer will end up with a wonky hoop that takes time to round out.
Most hoops do change shape slightly during transit, but taping the hoop down properly prevents major wonkiness on delivery. We ship our hoops in boxes, but you may choose to ship without one — some people use bubble wrap and/or a plastic padded shipping mailer. It's a personal preference. We choose the box method because the boxes are recyclable and protect the hoop from major damage during transit.
